Robin Murez, an artist working in St. Louis, says of her work, “As the dense forests of the East gave way to the Tall Grass Prairie, pioneers were able to traverse, homestead, and cultivate the land. Thus St. Louis’ distinction as the ‘Gateway to the West.’” Her work speaks to her concerns about the vanishing native environment, and to the simple beauty of light glistening off the great grasslands of the American prairie.
